About NADR

A Professional Practice Organization for Diabetes Self-management Education Services (DSMES)

The National Alliance for DSMES Readiness™ (NADR™) is a professional practice organization dedicated to strengthening the systems, leadership, and infrastructure that support Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support (DSMES) programs.

NADR focuses on the operational and implementation layer of DSMES delivery. While national standards define the expectations for quality, programs must translate those expectations into daily practice through coordinated systems, clearly defined roles, and sustained leadership. NADR exists to support this work.

We provide structured practice facilitation, readiness training, and implementation support that help DSMES programs operationalize standards, prepare for accreditation, and sustain quality over time. Our work centers on how programs function, not just how they are evaluated.

Our Mission

NADR’s mission is to strengthen DSMES programs by advancing readiness, implementation, and quality leadership through structured practice facilitation and workforce development.

We support the people and systems responsible for translating standards into practice, elevating the role of the DSMES Quality Coordinator as a central leader in program success.

Our Vision

We envision a healthcare system where every DSMES program has the infrastructure, leadership, and operational clarity needed to deliver high-quality, sustainable care.

In this system, readiness is proactive rather than reactive. Quality coordination is recognized as a leadership function. Standards are consistently implemented across settings. And access to training and support is not limited by organizational size or geography.

Purpose & Scope

Our Purpose and Scope

Healthcare organizations delivering DSMES are responsible for meeting established accreditation and quality expectations while also managing clinical operations, staffing realities, documentation requirements, and continuous improvement efforts. This work requires intentional systems and leadership structures to function effectively.

NADR was created to support this operational layer of DSMES delivery. Our purpose is to help programs move from understanding standards to implementing them consistently and sustainably.

Our work complements national standards by supporting their application in real-world settings.

Elevating the DSMES Quality Coordinator Role

A central focus of NADR’s work is elevating the DSMES Quality Coordinator role as a leadership position within programs.

Quality Coordinators are often responsible for accreditation readiness, documentation integrity, data tracking, internal audits, and continuous quality improvement. These responsibilities require leadership, systems knowledge, and organizational influence.

NADR recognizes that Quality Coordinators may be CDCES professionals, other licensed clinicians, or experienced program leaders serving in this role. Regardless of professional background, the coordinator function is essential to program success.

Our training and resources are designed to support Quality Coordinators as practice leaders. We focus on building confidence, clarity, and consistency in how coordinators guide teams, manage systems, and communicate with leadership.

By framing quality coordination as leadership rather than administrative support, NADR helps programs strengthen accountability and sustainability.

Practice Facilitation for DSMES Programs

NADR’s work can best be described as practice facilitation for DSMES programs.

We help organizations examine how their DSMES programs operate, identify gaps in systems and workflows, and strengthen internal processes that support quality and compliance. This includes support for documentation practices, role clarity, performance monitoring, and quality improvement cycles.

Typing on a Computer

Practice facilitation allows programs to build internal capacity, improve coordination across teams, and maintain alignment with standards over time.

Our approach emphasizes:

âœ” Systems thinking rather than task-based compliance

âœ” Leadership development rather than role overload

âœ” Sustainability rather than one-time readiness
