OUR STORY

A National Training and Workforce Development Organization for DSMES Leadership

The National Alliance for DSMES Readiness™ (NADR™) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit workforce development and professional training organization dedicated to strengthening the healthcare professionals and systems that deliver Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support (DSMES).

Our mission is to expand access to high-quality DSMES by preparing the leaders, Quality Coordinators, educators, and healthcare teams responsible for building, launching, and sustaining successful programs. We believe every community, regardless of geography, deserves access to evidence-based diabetes education delivered by a well-prepared workforce.

NADR specializes in the operational side of DSMES implementation. While national standards define what quality looks like, organizations need trained professionals, sustainable systems, and practical implementation strategies to bring those standards to life.

Through leadership development, readiness training, practice facilitation, and implementation support, we help healthcare organizations transform standards into sustainable practice.

Our work places a strong emphasis on expanding access for rural and underserved communities through innovative workforce development, telehealth-enabled education models, and implementation strategies that help organizations overcome geographic and resource barriers. By strengthening the people behind DSMES programs, we help increase access to diabetes education where it is needed most.

Whether supporting a rural health clinic preparing for its first DSMES program, helping an established health system strengthen quality processes, or training the next generation of DSMES leaders, NADR is building the workforce infrastructure that improves diabetes care nationwide.

Preparing the Leaders Who Expand Access

Every successful DSMES program depends on professionals who provide leadership, guide implementation, and coordinate quality across the care team. These responsibilities are often shared by professionals serving in Quality Coordinator and other DSMES leadership roles.

Professionals we support include:

• Registered Nurses (RNs)

• Registered Dietitians (RDNs)

• Pharmacists

• Health Educators

• Community Health Workers (CHWs)

• Diabetes Care and Education Specialists (CDCES)

• Healthcare Administrators

Healthcare organizations are often delivering exceptional diabetes education long before they seek accreditation. What many teams need is support translating their daily work into sustainable program operations. That includes documenting services, implementing the National Standards for DSMES, using data to improve care, strengthening team workflows, and preparing for long-term program success.

These needs are especially important in rural and underserved communities, where limited staffing and resources can make it difficult to sustain DSMES services. NADR develops the workforce behind these programs by equipping healthcare professionals with the knowledge and practical skills needed to build strong, sustainable DSMES programs that expand access to care.
